Staying in the Light

February 7th, 2009

I am curious.  I know that we all talk about our understandings and our gaining of awareness.  And so do I.  I don’t want to drag others through my struggle and confusion.

But, am I the only one who has to continually let go and who has a dark night of the soul sometimes.  I always come out with more love and more understanding.

I guess I want to know if all of you, who seem to have it all together, are still only able to stay in the great feelings most of the time, or some of the time.  I heard Abraham say that even Jesus and Buddha moved in and out of this blissful state.  I think that is right, Jesus was angry at times and I know from my experience that anger is better than fear and worry, but is not bliss.

And then he came to the cross where he gave it all.  Then I think he was in constant bliss, after he came back from the dead.  But, we don’t know too much about his time here after the cross.  Something I’ve wondered about.

I am confessing that I can’t keep myself in perfect bliss all the time.  I am human.  I know that I am enough, and all that.  I just want to know about others on this subject.  The other thing is, if you are able to stay in the bliss, please tell me how you have come to that.  Did you just keep going until you were there.

I don’t want to leave any parts out of my unconditional love.  I guess that’s not possible.  Since unconditional always includes all.

Love, Anne

    Hi Anne,
My concept is: we are not the doer. We cannot stay in the light: we can either be in the light or be not in the light. We have no control over it.

Therefore in my view there is no Path of enlightenment. Enlightenment will happen when the time is right and the body-mind mechanism is ready to recieve enlightenment.

Enlightenment is not eternal bliss. Enlightenment is the end of suffering. And with the end of suffering deep peace arises. And in that deep peace evrything happens without disturbing the deep peace.

Enlightenment means that there is an absolute and ultimate understanding of: Thy will be done and that means NOT my will be done.

When we want total bliss all the time we are in trouble. With the wanting comes the frustration and the pain. Enlightenment is not a feelling. It just is. That’s all. What will it bring forward: deep peace. And for the rest: you just live your life as you used to. No big deal.

    Have a nice sunday! Christine.

Coincidentally, today’s rather cryptic post on Stream Source offers an answer to some of these questions.

I tend to agree with Christine’s insight. Although, I’m not as sure that anyone who is not enlightened can really know, let alone explain, what this means. It seems to be purely experiential. Then again, perhaps that is what Christine was saying when stating, “it just is.”

I can only attempt to explain ‘the bliss’ that I reach for… that is to recapture those ecstatic moments (I have had only two) where I experience no time and infinite love and power – connectivity to all. This was not something I consciously asked for…not something that magically happened during meditation or prayer. Rather, it simply came to me in an instant during the course of mundane activity and it left as quickly as it appeared. But that instant contained the universe.

The question remains, was this experience but a sampling of what happens after we shed this skin, or is this an attainable state of being while in the flesh?

For me, from my current elevation of awareness, I would choose to remain in the flesh and experience more of this… however, as I grow ever closer to ‘becoming this’, I may be very willingly to shed the pain body that so restricts true essence, our spirit nature.

If you read between the lines of all of this, hopefully it will speak to what you, Anne, have to say about “how difficult it is to achieve, let alone maintain an elevated state of being (bliss).” This up and down-ness is the journey of life – even for Jesus (as you so noted), although he was waaaaay ahead of us!

All we can do is practice what we have learned about living in the moment, with love – knowing that this is what connects us to Source (God). And, in doing so, each day and with each thought, word, and deed, we grow nearer our destination. Trusting, even though we are not exactly sure of what that destination holds. Because, now, we can no longer resist divine invitation.

If you want, we could indulge for a moment in discussing the spiritual ramifications of this shift of the ages that many believe is upon us… that, perhaps, there is a heightened energy opening up on earth, right now, that is going to make Christ Consciousness more attainable, to more people. Fascinating possibility… db/SS

The path is neither straight forward nor easy.
Enjoy the ups and downs, there are a sign you are growing!

    Hi Anne,
I know exactly what you were referring to. Please see my post for Feb 9th. I was amazed to see how similar our topics were.

I feel that the awakening is a process. To simply be aware of your self and how you are feeling is a huge step up from letting your emotions runs away with you. By simply being aware, we are weakening the effects of any emotional baggage we might have.
The bliss gets easier and easier to hold on to. It is amazing how I can call upon it now as compared to when I first realized my higher Self.
As far as losing the blissful feelings, I would say if you are not upset about seeing yourself get upset, you will be back to your high spirits in no time.

Buddha, thanks for your gentleness. You have helped me.

    C. Om, I looked at your post, thanks for being another who can relate to what I am speaking of. You are right, I won’t fall for the same thing again. I guess it’s like a baby learning to walk, it takes a little bit of getting my balance. And not getting so upset when I fall. Thanks again.
